THERE ARE 100 REASONS TO GIVE. WHAT'S YOUR REASON?

YMCA Rendering

With our partners, we are building a new kind of Y for Barrie.

This will be a new kind of Y - a hub that will house traditional Y programs while supporting other opportunities for the public, our membership, and our community partners. This facility will be a centre of community where everyone belongs and thrives.

What's your reason?

REASON 1

Meeting the Needs of our Evolving City

"The Y as I see it in the future is going to be able to fill a lot of the holes that we are now experiencing in the downtown and in other places within the community."

Janice,

Former Mayor of Barrie/Honourary Capital Campaign Chair

REASON 4

Committing to Lifelong Learning

"The Y has given my son the opportunity to develop his social skills in a fun environment - every day we’re amazed by what he’s learnt."

Amanda,

Nathan’s mom

REASON 16

Connecting Youth to Employment

"I was going through a really rough period of my life, and the Y helped me get back on my feet, find a job, and get the skills I needed to succeed.”

Katrina,

Youth Employment Participant

REASON 19

Establishing a Sense of Belonging

"I don’t have any family here - this is my family, the members and the staff. My Y is my second home."

Mildred

Former YMCA Immigrant Services Client/YMCA Staff

REASON 23

Inspiring People to Reach Their Potential

"The Y opened their doors to me. It didn’t matter what I did before - my future mattered. It was an opportunity to have a career and a better life."

TJ,

YMCA Youth Employment Participant

REASON 27

Instilling Self Confidence

"The YMCA swimming program has given Lily the confidence she needed to jump into new experiences, both in and out of the pool."

Amanda,

Lily’s Mom

REASON 29

Creating Community

"If I needed anything, the Y was the place I went. As a community member, the Y is always on my mind and is part of me."

Moe,

Business Owner/Former YMCA Immigrant Services Client

REASON 46

Sharing our Values

"Building a caring and inclusive community is the reason why we need the YMCA"

Hon. Jeff Lehman,
